Redeveloping Star City

Star City will be transformed into a world class leisure and entertainment destination under Tabcorp Holding Ltd's planned $575 million investment in the property. The redevelopment will include the addition of a new 5 star hotel, more restaurants and bars and improved entertainment and gaming facilities.

Key features of the redevelopment include:

  • • Reorienting the casino to embrace Sydney's Harbour and city skyline. The Main Gaming Floor and new top-end restaurants will face the city skyline, giving customers one of the best views of Sydney.
  • • Creating a new entry from the harbour side of the property.
  • • Building a second hotel to join the existing Hotel and Apartment towers. This will be the first new hotel to be built in the Sydney CBD since the 2000 Olympic Games and will add a mix of standard rooms, suites and penthouses as well as a spa, gym and pool to our existing offering.
  • • Creating a new restaurant and retail precinct to give our customers a greater choice of restaurants, bars and retail stores.  Click here to find out more on retail opportunities.
  • • Creating additional car parking spaces.
  • • Refurbishing and expanding the gaming floor to bring it up to world class standard.

The redeveloped property will also incorporate a range of energy conservation measures such as environmentally responsible materials, harvesting rainwater for hotel use, avoiding the use of ozone depleting substances and other green initiatives.

The Star City redevelopment is expected to create up to 1,000 new jobs during construction. Star City anticipates an additional 700 positions will be created when work is complete in 2011.  The Casino, Hotel, Apartments and Lyric Theatre will remain operational during the redevelopment.
